Shared Nextcloud Accounts Support and Retention Policy
After changes in Nextcloud's preferred providers program, Ops One does not offer free subscriptions anymore. This article covers our retention policy for legacy instances as well as the amount of support that can be offered.
Back in 2018, Nextcloud introduced a program called preferred providers, where it was possible to sign up for a free Nextcloud account at one of the participating providers. We've been among the first ones in this program and have provided a free home for thousands and thousands of accounts ever since.
In 2023, Nextcloud adjusted the program, and since then, we have not participated actively anymore. Still, we operate the legacy shared Nextcloud instances until today, however, new subscriptions are not possible anymore.
Retention Policy
For all free (SN-2) subscriptions, the following retention policy does apply:
- Inactive for more than 6 months: A Nextcloud notification is sent each month (via e-mail or Nextcloud, depending on your personal settings).
- Inactive for more than 12 months: Account will be disabled.
- Inactive for more than 15 months: Account will be removed and its data deleted.
Therefore, to keep your free SN-2 account running, please log into the web interface of your Nextcloud account at least every six months. All of the paid subscriptions (SN-10 and above) do not expire as long as the subscription is running, regardless of log-in status.
Support
- Free (SN-2) subscriptions: No support can be provided.
- Paid subscription (SN-10 and above): We provide support for account settings only (signup and billing), client support cannot be provided.
For better performance, guaranteed availability, and full control over your own installation, please consider our private Nextcloud packages available on our Nextcloud Product Site.
